10 Types of Professional Translation Services

When the term "globalization" began to be popularized in the late 1990s to refer to the opening of international markets once the Cold War was over, professional translation began its rapid rise as an indispensable industry without which it would be impossible to engage in international business.

Over the course of these 20 years, this service has specialized as the flourishing of multinational companies of diverse nature demands it, while new technologies facilitate new approaches.

That is why today there are different kinds of processes and technologies that can work for the different types of translation projects. What makes sense for one translation type might not work for another.

The difference between an amateur and a professional translation lies precisely in the ability that the expert will have to deal with each document according to their specific needs. In addition, a linguistic services agency has translators specialized in various fields to assign the appropriate tasks according to each client and project.

It will not be the same to translate a document on Mechanical Physics than on pig farming. When looking for the ideal translation services, the client must take into account that the technicalities of the field of study are handled responsibly by a person with the appropriate profile.

In addition to the obvious total mastery of both languages of the document (origin and destination), the translator must have knowledge of the field and, above all, be efficient in terms of location, is the cultural identity expressed. For example, to understand the legal terminology that adheres only to the regulations in force in a country, the translator must be familiar with the expressions by which the wording of a standard is understood.

Some of the types of translation:

Legal translations. These services cover a wide range of very different documents, as many as the existing branches of law: criminal, civil, commercial, family, agrarian, etc.

Juridical translations. Legally-binding documents such as laws and regulations. Some commercial contracts also fall into this category.

Medical translations. The medical field is one of those that requires greater specialization on the part of the translator. In the same way, as in legal translations, the wide range of specialties covered by Medicine requires thorough work. In addition, the resulting works can be very varied: popular articles, specialized books, etc.

Industrial processes. These translations require a very high level of knowledge since they refer to a specialized area of products or services and internal procedures.

Computer Translation. It refers to those documents that involve software, user manuals and everything related to ICT.

Commercial translations. For those clients whose focus is markets, partnerships, business expansions and everything concerning companies of any size and turn.

Administrative Translation. They are internal documents for day-to-day management, be it from a company, government offices, NGOs, official organizations or any other.

Financial Translation. Here we talk about everything related to banking, stocks, commodities, investment, currencies, funds. It is not just an approach to the business world but the hardest part of the Economy field.

Scientific translation. Maybe the most specialized. Any kind of hard science falls into this category. Needless to say, the translator has a great weight on his shoulders.

Literary Translation. Although it seems simple, the translation of novels, stories, and poetry, among other literary manifestations, is one of the most complex works that a translator should do since he has to make sure to transmit emotions, humor and other subtle elements that adapt to the idiosyncrasies. which will host the translation. And considering that, for example, the Spanish language is spoken in countries with vast cultural differences, "just translating words" is a very vague concept.
