Hi all,

I'm just getting started out as a freelance translator and now have a couple of translations under my belt. My question to seasoned veterans is: how does one develop a 'portfolio' or such of translations - just as an artist keeps their best work in a collection. Is it standard practice to have a list of such as an addendum to a resume?

Thanks for any insights.

This is a great question because I too am a novice translator. I have written and read extensively in Spanish and will do missionary work in Latin America this year. However, I do not know how to market myself to agencies here. So, I'd appreciate a response to this thread.

Hallo, yes usually translators do this. But please pay attention to the privacy of your clients. You should ask them prior to showing your "best work" around.

I usually provide a list of the companies (agencies and direct clients) I have ever worked for and add a few details on my most important projects (such as large localisations etc.).
