I've finally gotten my first reply to a bid I made ;-) Now I'm curious, though... the agency's website is concise at best, not even indicating a country of residence and nothing but a few email addresses. Not that that is a problem, per se, but considering the amount of work I'm going to put in, I'd like some reassurance that it won't be for naught.

The job is quite large, at least a month's worth of work. I was wondering, does translatorpub.com have some sort of glossary where you can check which agencies are reliable and which are not so much?

Are there people among you who have had bad experiences with agencies? I'm not asking for names (unless you wanna PM me

), but I just want to know if it happens?

hi artaal, it does happen so be careful and make sure you have a mailing address and phone number of the agency. when in doubt you can always ask for a small down-payment. better safe than sorry!!!

Hi Artaal, TranslatorPub.com has no glossary and will not provide any online access, as the misuse could be on both sites. BUT TranslatorPub.com will offer something different quite soon, which will be more interesting for all parties.

Please understand that we wont tell much yet, as this will be something completely new and safeguards all interests involved in a project. But I believe everyone will be very happy with this solution.

Search ProZ.com and Translatorscafe.com. They both feature their Blueboards of reliable agencies and non-payers. And Stefan, don't be mistaken. There is no misuse on either of the parties' side. In fact, those Blueboards have been extremely successful in filtering non-payers.
